Omexom NZ explores the world of EVs
As the world continues to grapple with the challenges posed by climate change, the need for sustainable transportation solutions has become increasingly urgent. Electric vehicles (EVs) have emerged as a promising alternative to traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) cars, offering numerous environmental benefits.
Recognizing this potential, Omexom New Zealand has recently begun trialling EVs, with the ultimate aim to reduce emissions and lead the transition towards a low carbon energy future.
Latest additions to our EV and hybrid fleet of 65 include three LDV utility UTES and three Peugeot electric vans in the North Island, and a large Nissan people mover in our Manapouri site in the South Island.
These, together with our very own solar generator trailer designed to reduce on-site power use, form part of our carbon reduction strategy initiatives.
Trialling electric vehicles serves as a pivotal step towards a more sustainable business and embracing the future of transportation. The environmental benefits, fleet operations optimisation, potential cost savings, and positive employee engagement make sense to Omexom as a responsible corporate citizen and as an employer, while contributing to the collective efforts in reducing emissions and fostering a cleaner and greener world.
