Omexom New Zealand ready for Wellington

Wellington Electricity CEO Greg Skelton said both organisations had been working together to ensure every aspect of their systems and processes were aligned for a seamless transition of services.

“It’s been a busy three months for staff on both sides, as we’ve worked to facilitate a transition with minimal disruption to employees and customers, while maintaining our usual high levels of service across the network,” said Skelton.

“Omexom brings a wealth of international infrastructure experience and a strong focus on innovation, which positions them well to address the unique challenges of the Wellington region.  We’re excited at the value they’ll deliver to both the network and our customers.”

Skelton said the objective of the procurement process was to ensure Wellington Electricity continues to provide value for money for its customers, along with the safe and efficient delivery of services throughout the Wellington region.

Tuesday 1st of April at 6am – Omexom New Zealand will be handed the keys to the Wellington Electricity network!

There’s been a hive of activity this week and continues next week around the Silverstream Retreat (located conveniently next to the soon-to-be Omexom depot), as we induct new teammates joining Omexom, and prepare for our move to the depot.

We will begin the day on 1st April with a 7.30am breakfast to welcome all Wellington Omexom staff. Once breakfast is finished, all the new starts will continue with their induction programme at the Silverstream Retreat site.

We are looking forward finally getting everyone on board and settled in at the depot. There will be an official opening of the depot in early May, with the client leadership, Wellington city council members and other stakeholders in attendance.

“This is a very exciting contract for Omexom and we look forward to building our presence in the capital,” said Omexom Managing Director Mornez Green.

Green said, ”I want to assure the public Omexom stands ready to deliver services to the highest standards.  We have worked hard to ensure that we will deliver safe and efficient electricity services for Wellington Electricity and its customers.”

“The process has been quick  and smooth, even with the abbreviated transition period.  We’ve ensured we have the appropriate staff, equipment, and knowledge to ensure a seamless start,” said Green.
